Why do we need floating floor insulation?

High-rise developments often use floating floors to block unwanted noise from traveling through the floor and reaching occupants below.

Floating floor insulation boards disconnect the surface that is being walked on, from the load bearing floor. This helps to block excess sound traveling through and helps tenants enjoy better sleep, and improved quality of life – thanks to the reduced noise1.

Insulation boards can also be placed underneath ground floor spaces, helping to lessen draughts and block cool air which may escape the property – reducing heat gained.

Premium floor insulation boards:

  • Reduce noise between floors2
  • Prevent excess energy consumption3
  • Lower heat loss through floor spaces

ROCKWOOL stone wool won’t deteriorate over time. Maintaining its shape and performance throughout the lifespan of a building, it provides insulation for life4.

Calculator and savings

To work out how much insulation you’ll need, determine the m2 surface of the entire floor space. Then, for the required thickness, you can find acoustic reports and required performance levels on our relevant product webpages.

Acoustic reports and calculator tools may be available with data that is relevant to your local market. These can help you find the optimal solution for your building or renovation project.

To reduce energy bills, the insulation of ground floors is often extremely valuable. Adding a thermal insulation layer, in combination with acoustic floor products, can help achieve lower energy bills.
